Emergency locator transmitter


Consists of transmitter unit (in aft avionics compartment), emergency locator transmitter buzzer (in aft avionics compartment), external antenna (on top of rear fuselage), and remote panel (in cockpit). Transmits on the following frequencies:


The ELT can be activated either by an internal 'G' switch, or using the On/Off switch on the transmitter. The buzzer alerts the pilot that the ELT has been activated. There is also a red transmit alert light on the remote panel. This light is also used to diagnose problems such as a 'G'-switch loop open (1 flash), a 406 MHz transmitter problem (3 flashes), or a battery problem (7 flashes).
