Doors

The doors are monitored by the DSCS, which generates warnings on the ECAM and the doors themselves.

  • There are 6 double-width cabin doors (type A), 2 forward, 2 mid and 2 aft. Each door has 2 locking indicators, and is equipped with a slide and a raft.
  • There are 2 single-width emergency exists (type 1) aft of the wings, each with 1 locking indicator, and also equipped with slides.
  • There are 2 cargo doors, forward and aft, and a bulk cargo door. There is an avionics compartment access door at the front of the fuselage.

SLIDE ARMED and CABIN PRESSURE indicators inside the door can be seen from the outside through the window. Opening the door from the outside disarms the door and escape slide. The cabin pressure indicator flashes with the engines off, slide disarmed, and residual pressure in the aircraft. It is powered by its own battery.

In the cockpit there are 2 sliding windows providing emergency exits.

Cargo doors

The forward and aft cargo doors open outward and upward, and are mechanically locked and hydraulically operated by the yellow system. A hand pump may be used in case of electric hydraulic pump failure. They can be opened from the outside only.

A latching handle operates 10 latches, which do not display flags when latched. A locking handle then locks the latching handle.

The bulk cargo door is a plug type door, mechanically locked and manually operated. It can be opened from the inside or outside.

Failures

A door fault may or may not cause a depressurisation.
