Auto Pilot/Flight Director

Also from: AP; FD

Auto pilot

The AP can be engaged if the aircraft has been airborne for at least 5s. When the AP is engaged, the side sticks and rudder pedals are mechanically locked in position.

Both APs can be simultaneously engaged when APPR mode is selected. In that case, AP 1 is in control and AP 2 in standby.

The autopilot can be disconnected using the takeover pb. This generates an aural alert, the master warning, and an AP OFF message on the E/WD. These can be cancelled by pushing the takeover pb again.

Flight director

The flight director roll bar is replaced by a yaw bar for takeoff and landing roll out (below 30', when a localiser is available).

Failures

A dual FD failure is indicated by a FD flag on both PFDs.
