Electrical Emergency

Loss of normal AC generation.

The green hydraulic system drives an emergency generator if the normal generators fail. The output is normally 8.6 kVA, although if the green system is powered by the RAT, the output is only 3.5 kVA. The RAT normally deploys automatically if there is insufficient hydraulic power to actuate the emergency generator, and during deployment the batteries power the system.

If the emergency generator is powered by the RAT, it is inhibited when slats are extended. Batteries take over, and hydraulic power is then available to drive the slats.

In electrical emergency, the following are powered:

  • HF 1 (shed with LAND RECOVERY)
  • VHF 1
  • RMP 1
  • ACP 1, 2
  • L2 LP fuel pump, unless it has failed or is, in which case the R2 LP pump (both shed with LAND RECOVERY, or < 260kts RAT)

Controls

LAND RECOVERY pb swrecovers systems for approach and landing: LGCIU 1, SFCC 1(1), ILS 1, BSCU channel 1(1), LH windshield anti-ice(1), LH LANDING light(1)

(1): Not recovered if the emergency generator is powered by the RAT or batteries
