Air Navigation (General) Regulations

For aircraft above 5,700kg or with a capacity of at least 12 people standard weights may be used.


Weight and performance of public transport aeroplanes classified as aeroplanes of performance group A in their certificates of airworthiness

Aeroplanes flying for the purpose of public transport of passengers aerodrome facilities for approach to landing and landing

Aerodromes intended to be used for landing or as an alternate must have:

  1. air traffic control service or aerodrome flight information service (including reported met conditions)
  2. VHF radio
  3. at least one of the following navaids (note that the equipment need not be serviceable at the time):
    1. VOR
    2. NDB
    3. DME
    4. radar

Mandatory reporting prescribed reportable occurrences, time and manner of reporting and information to be reported

The following occurrences are reportable:

  1. those involving damage to the aircraft;
  2. those involving injury to a person;
  3. those involving the impairment during a flight of the capacity of a member of the flight crew;
  4. those involving the use in flight of any procedures taken for the purpose of overcoming an emergency;
  5. those involving the failure of an aircraft system;
  6. those arising from the control of an aircraft in flight by its flight crew;
  7. those arising from failure or inadequacy of facilities or services on the ground;
  8. those arising from the loading or the carriage of passengers, cargo or fuel;

and those not covered above which constitute an occurrence endangering, or which if not corrected would endanger, the safety of the aircraft, its occupants or any other person.


A report to the Chief Executive is required within 96 hours.
