Autopilot


The autopilot controls pitch and roll. Failure of the yaw damper does not affect autopilot engagement.


2 channels, with 1 channel acting as a hot spare channel. Swapping channels is an automatic function, although can be done manually on the MCDU.


Modes

PitchFPA (Flight Path Angle)default mode on AP engagement
RollROLLdefault mode on AP engagement

Disengagement

  • A set force on the control column
  • Manual trim switch activation
  • Stall warning and protection system activated
  • FBW system switched to direct mode

EICAS messages

FLT CTRL FAULT - trim control function becomes inactive
