Probe Heat


Electrical heating is provided for probes:


  • pitot ports (low heat level on the ground, normal in-flight)
  • static ports
  • angle of attack probes
  • total air temperature probes (not heated on the ground)

Three PHCs control and monitor the captain probes, F/O probes, and standby probes. Probes are heated when:


  • automatically, with 1 engine running or in-flight
  • manually, with PROBE/WINDOW HEAT pushbutton switches ON
